Our hands are pretty important.
They type our texts, hold our coffee, and lift our weights.
We interact with the world through our hands.
For the white collar strength athlete, 8 hours of computer work can present a few problems… one of which being the health and readiness of the wrists.
Nowhere is hand health and wrist position more important than in the bench and military press.
A safe, strong press starts with an optimal setup.
Be sure the bar is aligned over the wrist to keep the hand into a “punch” position as much as possible.
Apart from practicing this grip with all of your sets, wrist mobility drills are key for joint health. Circles, compression, and stretches all have a place in your warm up.
Experiment with these drills to help undo hours of computer use and enjoy many years of pain-free pressing!
