     have been training with Zack over the past 4 years, both in person and through online coaching. When I first started working with Zack, I knew that I really enjoyed strength training, but my fitness goals at the time were mostly centered around running and preparing for races.  I did not enjoy running, but preparing for these races provided me with a fitness related goal to work towards. After a few months of strength training with Zack, he made the suggestion that I consider competing in a local powerlifting meet. It was very much outside of my comfort zone, but I loved the idea of having a training goal to work towards that was related to strength.

    Training for that first powerlifting meet was an incredible experience and one that I will never forget. Zack helped me to set and reach goals that I would never have imagined were possible. For the first time ever, I was focused on what I could do instead of what I looked like or how much weight I could lose. I looked forward to every training session and was excited to see what I was able to accomplish each week.

    Since that first powerlifting competition, Zack has coached me through 10 additional powerlifting meets, including two at the National level. He has helped me achieve goals that exceeded anything that I would have imagined for myself. He has helped me to add hundreds of pounds to my lifts and set numerous state records.  He also helped me work towards and achieve my StrongFirst Level 1 and Level 2 Kettlebell Instructor certifications as well as my StrongFirst Lifter Barbell Instructor certification. The numbers of personal records that I have set and goals that I have achieved since I began my training with Zack are too numerous to list – and the list continues to grow. I am stronger and in better shape at 47 years old than I have ever been in my life.

    Working with Zack is one of the best decisions that I have ever made. His attention to detail and professionalism are second to none. When we had to transition from in-person training to online training when I moved out of state, and subsequently out of the country, I was initially skeptical about how well that would work since my only experience with training was in person. Zack has exceeded every expectation that I had and his programming has been spot on.  I have continued to make significant progress and get excited about every new training cycle. Zack has the gift of being able to see potential in others and helping them to realize that potential. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be where I am today. I can’t recommend Zack highly enough as a coach and am thankful for all that he has done to help me reach so many goals.

    “My name is Linda Mertens.  I am an SFG2/SFL certified coach as well personal trainer.  I have been in the industry since 2004 and work part-time at a local gym in Minneapolis. I have an extensive background in endurance training as well as kettlebell training.  I wanted to attend a Strong First Barbell Certification but had very little experience with barbells as well as I wanted to work on my strength.  I decided to hire Zack as my coach.
